It's important to choose the correct size and type of speaker for your space. We get these questions a lot, and have two videos to help you narrow down your choices.
What Size Speaker Should I Buy?
There’s an old adage that smaller speakers play better in smaller rooms. With generally more challenging acoustics the smaller the room gets, it became commonplace to recommend speakers that have less bass. This isn’t a well founded notion, and our VIDEO on this does a good job explaining it. In short, if you have problems with room modes or resonances in your space, you should address those with logical speaker placement and acoustic treatment. You shouldn’t get a speaker that doesn’t have any bass.
If you have the space and budget, we’ll almost always recommend one of our larger, 8-Inch model speakers. They have generally lower distortion and can get louder a bit more efficiently than a smaller woofer design can. Don’t feel like you’re making any major sacrifices if you go with something smaller, you’re not. All our models were thoughtfully designed and brought to market to suit the needs of a variety of users and situations that require professional level monitoring.
That said - the total footprint of your speakers might matter more depending on where/how you’re going to be placing them. Check out the dimensions below, and keep in mind, the most space-saving setups are going to be possible with our -UNF models!
